You don’t need to be a racer or a member to ride our track – just come along and have fun!
When is the track open?
Sessions are usually held
> April to September (in season) Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings*
> October to March (off season) Sunday morning*
* Please check our weekly post on Facebook and Instagram that includes:
- Track days and times
- Type of session (open track, coaching, etc)
- Relevant information (cost, bike hire, etc)
- Track maintenance work days
Note: opening can be subject to change depending on weather conditions and availability of volunteers etc (check our page for any update post before departure).
The Club and Track is run and maintained by a fantastic group of club volunteers, and funded through members, sponsors, grants, events and fundraising (not the council as some think)
Do I need to be a member or can I just turn up and ride?
You can just turn up and ride!
We love to see new faces and provided we have space, and you have correct safety equipment and the right attitude we never turn riders away.
How do I join Llynfi BMX Racing Club?
You don’t have to become a member of Llynfi BMX Racing Club to ride at our track, but membership comes with great benefits and helps to sustain our volunteer-run club.

What sessions are available?
(one of these will be stated next to the date at the top of our social media post):
- Open Track - anyone can ride at any time during the time slot just turn up.
- Coaching Session - pre book your place for a structured coaching session (skills & drills).
- Training Session - race day ready session with skills, fitness, laps and gate starts.

What is the fee to ride the track?
£2 member / local | £4 non-members.
What equipment do I need?
BMX Race bikes and full face helmets are available to loan, you can bring your own (no pegs on bikes and must be in good working order including working rear brake).
Bring gloves and full length bottoms and long sleeve top, wearing protective knee and elbow pads if required.

Hire a Helmet
Hire one of our Full face helmets only £1 each
(limited numbers - first come first served)
Ride:
Riders must be competent rider for track but you can cycle around the perimeter on the flat areas if not, must wear a full face helmet (your own or hire ours), if using your own bike must have working rear brake and not have stunt-pegs on your bike.
Gear:
Wear your gloves (important - any gloves) and protective elbow and knee pads (if you have any), wear long sleeved top and trousers (important to protect your skin if you come off and hit the track from track rash)!

You are more than welcome to hire our BMX Race bikes, available to loan £2 each

Safety and rules
BMX racing is an exciting and extreme sport, but it can be dangerous so you need to follow the safety rules.
• Replace any worn or broken equipment on your bike before riding.
• Always wear your safety equipment while riding the race track.
• Be aware of other riders around you on the track.
• Always ride the correct way round the track.
• Take your time and do not attempt difficult jumps until you feel ready.
• Leave your riding area clean and tidy.
Like all sports, practice and training to become a competent rider takes time. Our club can give you all the training, advice and encouragement you need to get you started.
Do you have refreshments available?
Various cold drinks (water/bottles/cans/juice), hot drinks, snacks (sweets/crisps) available to buy at our Cafe.
Are there toilets?
We do not currently have onsite toilets so please go before you set off, otherwise it’s the bush, nearby supermarket or a local pub!

We enter the South West Region BMX Race Series, with ten rounds of race events taking place from our track in Bridgend to Bristol down to Cornwall.
We host one Regional round, there is also the SW BMX Championships, British BMX Championships, and Welsh BMX Championships.
Races are age related in both male and female categories for novice, expert and elite riders of 20" and 24" (cruiser) BMX race bikes.

The club is solely run by volunteers and always in need of extra people to help out, this could be anything from an hour helping while at the track to wider roles supporting the club.

When and where are BMX races held?
We’re proud participants in the South West Region BMX Race Series, which runs throughout the season with ten rounds hosted at tracks across the region — from Bridgend to Bristol to Cornwall.
